The New Atterbury Shooting Range is a state-of-the-art facility. It features a 66 station pistol and rifle range and a 4 field shotgun shooting area with 4 combination trap and skeet fields. The new public range was built to provide a safe and fun environment for shooters of all ages to come and enjoy the shooting sports. The Range has been dedicated to and named after Sgt. Joseph E. Proctor. Sgt. Proctor of Whiteland died in the line of duty stopping a suicide bomber from attacking an entire battalion of troops in Iraq. Sgt. Proctor single handedly took out the bomber but the explosives in the truck the bomber was driving exploded killing him. He saved hundreds of lives that day and we are thankful to have soldiers like him serving our country.
